How do you use the numbers/lines on a binocular?

  1. the  numbers in your pic on the top are the compass bering in degrees and the numbers on the right are the elevation angle in degrees but those numbers are not normally in a set of binoculars some binoculars have lines in them to determine distance in meters or yards from the center of the reticule its usually in 100 meter or yard increments  


  2. ok, i saw the "reticles" you're referring to.  however, the video game doesn't portray the reticles as they really look when looking through "binos".  

    Reticles are mainly used to call in Artillery and make adjustments as the rounds are dropping in.  it's hard to explain without you actually seeing the binoculars we use in the army, but basically, we look directly at the area where we expect the artillery round to fall.  if it's off, we use the numbers on the reticles to help us make adjustments.  "add three hundred", "drop one hundred", etc.  the numbers are used as a guide for us to inform the artillery men what adjustments they need to make.
