Question:

How do you use the "Hints" feature on Ancestry.com?

Actually I know how to use the feature, but once I have chosen to ignore a hint on a person I can't figure out how to see that hint again if they have no other hints. Normally you have the little space on the individual profile page that shows "Historical Records" and "Ancestry" member photos, stories, or tree "hints" and if you choose to ignore just one of 2 or 3 records you can still click on the hints area and retrieve the ignored hints, but if the person only has one hint and you ignore IT, that area turns into a "Search Historical Records" for so and so......So how do I retrieve ignored hints if there are no other hints to take me to the hints area? Hope that makes sense.........

  1. One trick is to delete one of the records you chose in a previous hint session.  This way the hint will show up again and you can return to the hint area and then select show all hints (and of course reselect the record you just deleted), which will bring up the ones you ignored in the past.  If you didn't select a hint and ignored them all in the past you need to make an entry that will generate new hints, like adding a place of birth or death or changing it from Bexar, Texas to just Texas or something like that to generate hints.
