Could anyone help me out by using it (correctly) in a sentence? Thank you!

  1. That could work.

    But usually with fancy words like these, you want to be as specific as possible in the meaning intended.

    So for example...

    "After Hillary Clinton was in the red from her campaign spending, she attempted to propitiate Barrak Obama to procure financial assistance."  


  2. "After offending his boss, John tried to propitiate him by inviting him to dinner."

  3. The pupil tried to propitiate the headmaster's wrath.

    There needs to be somewhat of a difference of status between the one aiming to appease and the one to be appeased for the word to work as it is meant to.
