How do you use those lotto machines in California Grocery stores?

I normally buy tickets from a gas station, but I was in a grocery store the other day (not normally there) and noticed a lotto machine with something that looked like it let you slide your slips in. I didn't have time to look but is this something where you slid in all your slips and pay for it all through the machine, or do you have to get them from a cashier or something? I've never used it but don't want to go down there to try it out if I'm going to have to wait in a grocery store line.

you pick your numbers on the screens and slip the money in and a slip comes out with the lotto ticket with your numbers printed on it.  you can also choose the quick pick option.
