How do you use your television to display the stuff thats on a computer/laptop?

I tried using a s-video cable, but the tv won't recognize it. It just says no signal(I have a lg 42 inch lcd).

  1. There should be a vga like plug-in on the back, plug it in there will give you a better pic than thru the s-vid cable.

    Also read the manual, from the web or book.


  2. you can get a DVI to DVI cable or VGA to DVI cable to do it.

    otherwise S-Video only works if your computer has Video-Out.

    it should be detected.

  3. If you have s video out and you got a no signal you have to go to the control panel and turn on the secodary moniter fuction of the video card also i dont know if your pc has it but the second fuction of my pc is the f4 key that has a symbol like a tv press fuction and f4 and it turns it on

  4. If your laptop has a S-Video Out and your TV has S-Video In, then you would just need to buy an S-Video cable($15). Most new laptops have S-Video Out and many TVs have S-Video In. Or you could try the DVI cable which cost more than the S-Video. I use S-Video for mine.

  5. I would go with the cable, but since that didn't work try a normal video connection , like the ones that hook up to a ps2 or Xbox
