How do you view photos in emails and websites when there is only a red x in photo area?

On some websites and emails I'm not able to see pictures. There is a red x in the corner of picture box. I right click to see picture but it doesn't work. I have windows xp, Internet Explorer 7 and Outlook Express.

  1. Your email client, I.E. Outlook Express may block external images as a security measure.

    This is to make sure the server where the images are located, doesn't gain information about your computer, spammer's may also use this as a "confirm" method, to know if the address is in use or not.

    As for the images not showing when you are visiting a website, there is nothing you can do about this. It usually means the images are missing, or the server hosting them is down. You should try again later if they are important to you.

    It can also be the case, that you have some sort of child protection running hidden in the background, which will block inappropriate content along with more or less random content mistaken for same.


  2. the red X in place of a photo signifies that the person in control of you internet access has prohibited the website where the image is located.

  3. The X means "Image could not be loaded" (often because it isn't where the website says it should be).

    There isn't anything you can do about that.
