I'm doing some research and would like your input. I'm interested in the public's perceptions of who or what teachers are or should be.

  1. A nice, caring person who can be funny and friendly when they want to be, yet have a no-nonsense attitude if need be. They should understand children and love learning and they should enjoy watching other people learn as well!

  2. Strong, leader, organized, smart, patient, compassionate, creative and busy.

  3. They must not be materialistic or they would have chosen a better paying job. I have taught for 10 years and I hate when people say " you must have a lot of patience", but that is what I hear most often when I say I am a teacher.

  4. I really like my teachers. I automatically think that they won't like me so much because they deal with so much s*** at school from students. (At least in High School).

To me teachers are mentors. I look up to them. I like it when they challenge me intellecutally.

  5. I think teachers are wonderful people!  I am going to be a type of teacher...a band director.  Anyhow, I think teachers are one of kids most important thing in life.  Teachers teach them almost all the knowledge they need to suceed in life.  Many parents don't know enough to help children....my mom didn't know algebra when I was in 8th grade.  My teacher had help session and helped us on her own time.  I think many kids, not all, underestimate teachers and don't reaize the importance of them.,..kind of sad actually.  I think teachers are the heros here on earth.  It's like having tons of kids, and new ones every year.  It is very hard to be a teacher, but it can be rewarding.
