Question:

How do you wash a car without getting streaks?

I seems to think this should be a simple process, however, for the life of me I can't get the car to dry without a ton of water spots and streaks. It's like I'm washing a car and then needing to wash it again as soon as I finish. I bought all of the right washing stuff at Target that even says "streak free" which really isn't true.

  1. first forget all that c**p about streek free and hard water, wash your car with dish soap dawn works well while washing do a section at a time and always wet the whole car down after each section, to keep it cool and avoid spots then once done washing and rincing, pull into garage out of the sun and wipe down with clean towel fast doing whole car then get another towel and do it again, and after that go over the hard to get at places like door handles and bumpers, i have a bright red car and never get spots or streeks from hard water,

  2. make sure you get the soap off before it dries.

  3. You are probably washing with "hard" water. it will always leave spots. After washing your car you should definitely wipe dry with a chamois. That will help with the spots.

  4. I think drying is the best way to stop a streak. Do you have a good base of hand wax ? There are many ways to stop a streak and when you have a good wax on, the water will bead so you can have time to wipe it off .

  5. your best ally is a shammy called the absorber that you can buy at walmart and don't wash it in the sun, you can also get a product made by Meguires called Meguires detailing spray polish and get some microfiber cloths and when done washing and drying the car go over the paint with this detailing spray and the microfiber cloth, it only takes about an extra 10 minutes to do the whole car and it will look like it was just waxed.

  6. Dry it with a Microfibre cloth, available from all hardware stores.

  7. Could be a number of things from the temperature of your car to the type of towel you are drying with.  I've had trouble with some of the same problems till I recently read a great article that takes you through ALL the steps from start to finish:
