How do you wash dishes??

(weird question, i kno) My husband, his little sister and myself all have our own way of washing dishes, but I was wondering which way is more water efficient. I wash dishes by filling one of the sinks with hot water and dishsoap. I wash the dishes in this water and put the washed dishes into the other sink until its full and then rinse all of the dishes and put them in a drying rack. I do this til until all the dishes are washed. My sister in law puts dishsoap on a sponge and washes every dish under the running water and puts them up to dry. My husband puts them in the dishwasher. Which is best? and are there any other ways to save water?

  1. The way I use, when washing dishes, is using the sponge (covered with dishoap) first. I clean every dish and leave it in the second sink.

Be careful! When cleaning it with the sponge, water isn't flowing.

Then, one by one, I pick the dishes and wash them in the first sink with hot water. After that, again one by one, I put then in the dry.

Try to stop the flow of the water when being in the middle of one dish and another, to spare the most.

  2. I think all three ways has their benefits but this depends on the amount of dishes you are washing. If it is just a few, and I stress a few, use the sister method. If its allot then us your method but try adding a little water in the second sink (rinse water) with very little bleach to sterilize your dishes as you rinse them (adding bleach is optional). This will conserve water even as you rinse.

Now as far as the dishwasher is concerned, as far as conserving water, this is the worst. #1.It waste water more than any method. #2. You have to rinse the dishes prior to placing them in the washer (more water). #3. Some dishes still remain soiled after the complete cycle, which needs to be re-washed. But one advantage is.....I can't think of any, sorry.

  3. I would have to say your way is the best on saving water, though we use our dishwasher.

    :-)

  4. Your way sounds like the one which uses less water but that is only unless you use just one bowl full of water for all of the dishes. If half way through you decide to change the water because it is too dirty then maybe not.

The dishwasher is definately the easiest! And if you have a larger one and wash lots of dishes in then this might be more efficient because it could replace doing the washing up several times.

It's difficult to really know and be acurate but i think your way is best.

  5. to save water: use a diswasher

to make it by yourself is: the best option is to put dishsoap on the sponge and then wash the dishes with the water running after scrubing the dish put it on the water and then lift it to a place that can hold dishes to dry.

    i do that
