To Whom It May Concern:

My youngest son

Suffers from,

Well,

I guess, he a . . .

Has dyslexia.

When he cries for his Mom,

Though he tries, it’s . . . !moM

It’s enough to drive you mad.

I’m wondering what could be the cause.

So, if you could help; I surely would be glad.

Sincerely, and thank you very much

The young boy’s daD.

  1. My godson is dyslexic and caused him much pain, till his very wise Mom gave him a camera, he is now an award winning photographer of renown.  He writes poetry with his lenses...

ADD is in many cases the excuse for not getting a kid out there to run, explore, play on teams, engage in activities that challenge them.

Dna I yllaer dekil ruoy meop!

  2. My best friend's son is dyslexic, and he had the same issues in school.  He began to think he was just plain stupid, and finally turned to alcohol and drugs.  He has straightened out his life now, but is still plagued with the problem.  He has just learned what it is that is backwards, and deals with it.

    A.D.D. is a catch-all phrase, that didn't exist when I was young.

  3. The child's wail, starts softly and builds.  Iambic with a zing!  Now aren't you glad you wasted those fivE!  Funny and true.

  4. This is silly, very silly....but, I like it.

However, it would work better if the words you were reversing weren't exactly the same after you've done so....I know you put the exclamation mark in front, but I still thought - what does he mean...is he making the child emphasise the wrong part of the word (I just wrote - wrod.! I think my fingers are dyslexic)

The formation of this is good, too.

  5. I could perhaps join in the chorus if I had not seen the toll that dyslexia has taken on the life of someone very close to me.  However, you have answered your own question...

  6. hEhE, I like the raw humor that you put into your poem. I'm quite sure that your son has dyslexia and not A.D.D. A few years ago, when I was 12, I was also wrongly diognised with A.D.D, just because I was energetic and dreamy.

  7. .rorrim a dik eht eviG

    .em rof skroW

.nuf rof tsuj siht ecitcarp ot desu I

I do not want to make light of dyslexia. It is a serious problem.

... I'm only saying you can overcome it.

  8. Points not wasted here. I'm sorry for your son's difficulty and applaud you for having a light and good heart.

Doesn't it drive you mad when they use ADD as an excuse for EVERYTHING?
