How do you wax a snowboard rail?

I just made a wooden snowboard rail/box, and i dripped hot wax all over it and then smoothed it out with an iron. When i stood on my board on top of it, it didnt slide that well, but I didnt have any momentum. Are there any better ways to wax it? I have heard of spray on butter before. I cant wait for snow!

Use Ledge Butter. You can buy it at any skateshop.
