  1. A soldier (serviceman) actually wears two dog tags under his clothing. These (in the case of british servicemen) are red and green lozenge shaped tags, imprinted with personal details such as number, rank, name, religion, and corps or unit. They are fastened in such a way that one tag can be removed and collected in the event of fatality, while the other stays with the body for later identification by a grave unit.

  2. Under your uniform so they won't rattle.

  3. one on there neck and one in the laces of there boots.

  4. You don't wear them ...Your not the one in the military so why wear them ...   after u see a million people wearing them they get old after awhile.

  5. AMS Vasquez is wrong wrong wrong. Dog tags are not a fashion statement there are there to identify your body. It has nothing to do with " everybody wears them".

I highly doubt you are a Army Wife saying something ignorant like that.

Dog tags are worn inside the uniform, to prevent them from being seen ( since they are shiny, My husband darkened his out to prevent this if they came out.)

Some military members attach one to their boot in case of a severed limb to identify the limb to the body it belonged to.

    Harsh but the truth.
