As an undergrad you have it facing yourself so you can see it, then when you graduate you have the ring upside down so everyone else can see it. :-)

It should be on your finger so that when you hold out your hand the year appears right-side up.

I've always worn my class ring to face up and down, with the year I graduated visible in the right direction to face me. I've never heard that the class ring should be worn any differently after or before graduation, however, that may be true.

you wear it facing yourself wile in school so you can see it them after grad you wear it facing out so people can see where you went..... i just graduated

When I graduated (1998) this was the way to do it:

You were it with the school name facing you.  You then get 97 (or minus one from the year you graduate) people to turn the ring one full rotation.  Then, the last person is at your senior prom, or graduation.  They turn it one half turn.  You remove it, and then complete the turn with it back on.  The ring is now facing out.  This lets the world know you are on your way!
