i'm a new user on ebay, and i've gotten a couple of items already,

but sometimes when i'm bidding put my bid it, but immediately after i enter it it will say " you've just been outbid!" and it will be some user like "i**i*" or "h**h"

so i'll put a higher bid in and the same thing will happen immediately afterwards. i can't win

are those some kind of computer things?

how do i beat them without spending a lot of money??

  1. try bidding a pound extra than the price it stands when you bid

  2. Its just a price game the higher you gave the more the chance you own a thing..

it depends on what price you bid in order to win it

  3. you bid higher than everybody else.

some people enter maximum bids which doesn't show.  all you see is the next minimum bid.  if you enter something higher, they'll keep automatically outbidding you unless you overcome their max.  i personally think it's cheap but its a way to control the auction without having to be at the computer.

  4. This is how I do it.

First of all, I decide what the Max amount I'd pay for the item including shipping.

I NEVER bid on an item until the last minute.

Then I bid the max, knowing full well the BID will only go over the highest previous bid.

I never allow the other bidders time to place another bid.  That may be what's happening to you.

  5. well you cant....there are some ppl on ebay who have been on it for years and years and they are very fast and quick at this...the put a high bid ....so if u put 50 $ when its like 10 secs left...if his amount is bigger than yours he would win the bid. ......some ppl enter the maximum bids that doesnt show.....and thats what it is if he puts 100 $ as a maximum bid it will not show and when 10 secs are left for the bid to end and u put like 99 or 95 watever amount it will say you have just been outbid...its not a computer thing

  6. someone out bidded you (slow internet and/or bad connection or you biding under )

    or they sniped it

lokk for (in google) "ebay sniper" and that will win most of the time - it puts the bid 2 seconds b4

  7. its because ebay will automatically bid on your behalf up to you maximum amount. Their maximum is either higher than yours(or they just entered the same number first). I recommend not bidding at all and using an ebay sniper. (Bidnip) it will bid at the last possible moment(or a moment or two ahead of the auction close. and you usually win........ As for the names like D**x it is a generic name to protect the other users identity for items worth over a certain amount. Hope that helps you.

  8. Ebay has started only showing a few characters in a buyers screen name to protect their identity only the seller can see the full name. So if your screen name is tonka and you are bidding on an item, it will show 1 bid by t***a. The reason you are being instantly outbid is that whoever is bidding on the item has put in the maximum amount they are willing to pay and what you are putting in is less than that amount. Ebay will automatically bid for them until someone beats their maximum amount. So if someone is bidding on an item and the maximum they will pay is $15 and you only put in $10, that person is still outbidding you until you put in $16. So if you put in $11,$12, so on and so forth, its still not beating the maximum bid. Your goal is to beat the maximum bid and you don't know what that is until you bid higher than that amount.

  9. thats because they have an automatic bid, if you get a rating high enough you can do that....until then you can only keep bidding and hope that you are the highest

  10. out bid your competition

  11. The reason it said you have been outbid is due to eBays practice of proxy bidding.

Example: Item bidding starts at $10.00 with no reserve.

I bid $25.00 which is the most I will pay for the item. eBay shows 1 bid (mine) for $10.00 whic is the minimum bid. (It holds the other $15.00 in the background, so to speak, until others bid.)

I could bid $100 but it will only use enough of my bid to satisfy the minimum needed which in this case is $10.00

You then bid $15.00. Since my previous bid (which is unknown to you) was $25.00 eBay raises the price to $15.00 but I still control the item.

Until you bid $26.00 you will always be told "you were outbid". And you will never know what my maximum bid is.

Here's a tip. Bid the most you are willing to pay and no more.

If you bid $100 on a $10 opening bid that does not mean you will pay $100 for it. It will depend on other bidders. The minute someone bids $101.00 they will become the high bidder

  12. you cant. some people either bid all the time to outbid you (cunning) so theres no way to get the item without high bidding.

but be careful it could also be a virus made by the person selling the item. they can see how u keep bidding for an item and their virus automatically pretends to bid for something ahead of u so it makes u bid as well. essentially they are trying to get as much money out of u as possible..

it sounds funny to me, i would avoid items by that particular ebay-er

  13. no, you are bidding with other people....if its like a ps3...you will be outbidded.....ebay sucks because there is always someone out there who will pay more than you....but u have to bid a lot
