I have 2 phones I want to put in seperate parts of the house so I can speak to people in other parts of the house but have no land line. Is there anyway with copper wire to accomplish this? In other words string wire between them and use battery power to operate it?

  1. Step 1:

Acquire 2 paper cups, some tape and a lengthy piece of string.

    Step 2:

With a pencil or pen, poke a small hole in the bottom of each paper cup.

Step 3: Thread one end of the string through the hole in the cup, tie a not in the string large enough to prevent the string from being able to pull back out of the hole in the cup.

Repeat for the other cup and the other end of the string.

    Step 4:

Using the tape, attatch one cup to each phone.

Now you are connected to speak with no regular service.

This system even works during power outages, cell tower and network failures, there are NEVER dropped calls unless your string gets snagged, and all incoming text messages are ignored.

    NOTE:

For better reception, ensure string is pulled taught and speak loud and clear into your cup.

  2. It can be done, Bob, but unless you are into electronics, I suggest you forget it.  It's not trivial.

You're better off just buying some intercoms.  There are units that plug into your wall outlets and communicate via the power lines in your house.   Simple, and they work well.

  3. Just get an intercom for your house.

Or get a couple of cheap walkie-talkie radios.
