How do you wire a head unit directly to the cars battery?

I have an 81 Jeep that has a working head unit and speakers but no power going to the head unit. What do I need to get this up and running?

Run a wire (14 AWG) directly to the battery (+) from the radio. Be sure to have an appropriate fuse in-line.

I'd tap into the ignition harness and find a 12 volt constant there. Saves yourself the hassle of going all the way to the battery. You'll still want to make sure you add a fuse to the wire though.
