I am putting in a plasma tv and I am trying to put a new outlet into the attic. Problem is that there is a light up there wired to an outlet, can I wire another outlet to the existing outlet without over loading the existing one without causing a fire. I just want to know the maximum voltage or power one outlet can handle.

  1. You should be able to do this without a problem.

  2. As an electrician I can say your safe wiring it the same outlet. You dont use the atticpower for anything therefor there is no draw on the power.

Check what circuit fuse it is on .A15 amp or 20 amp.I am sure you will be fine .A TV draws hardly any power. Good Luck.
