  1. cyber bullying, you should google it or something, but for the most part its really bad because its behind the screen so nothing can get physical to stop it.

  2. Your teacher may have specific objectives in terms of how many sources you need, length of article, etc. Generally, a feature story is longer than a news story. Where a news story might be 1-2 pages long, a feature story might be 5 pages long.

Start by gathering everything you know about Cyber Bullying. Use Google News to find news articles; a link is below.

If possible, print out several articles that you like so you can highlight the best information.

I linked another article on the subject below. It's about a well-known case in the news now where a woman is blamed for a girl's suicide through Cyber Bullying. She was indicted. That's probably why you got this assignment.

Form some questions about Cyber Bullying. Ask some other kids if they have ever experienced Cyber Bullying either as a victim or as the bully. What does Cyber Bullying mean to them?

As a teacher and your principal if they have ever had to deal with Cyber Bullying. You might also interview your local police chief or sheriff.

After compiling all this information, then decide what you want to do with it. Explain the background and what Cyber Bullying is. Cite cases. Is it a serious problem? What is being done at your school to prevent or combat Cyber Bullying? Answer those questions, and you'll have your feature story.

  3. Info and links are on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyber-bully...

    News:

    Blogs:

  4. In terms of writing feature articles, there are plenty of guides online and in the library that will be able to help you with that, and you should be able to get copies of the relevent handouts or notes from class to help you.  I've included links to a couple of websites that have some straight forward advice and are pretty easy to understand.

You've gotten lucky with the topic - cyber-bullying has been all over the news this week.  Normally with topics and issues like this that are new, it can be hard to find references other than wikipedia, which doesn't usually look good in your list of sources on an essay.  Because the case of Megan Meier, who was driven to suicide by cyber-bullying, has been in the news, you will be able to draw inspiration from articles on her case.  I've included links to a few to get you started.  Just make sure you don't draw too heavily from that material, or you might be accused of plagerism!

    Good luck!
