  1. First introduce the topic and then your stand..

Then go for the For aspects, and then the agaist..

    Conclude and rap up..

  2. The best way, I think, is to decide what position you want to take--for or against. Present the other argument, the one you don't wish to support, first, giving it a little less than half the allotted space. At the almost-midway point, try a once sentence paragraph--risky, but maybe OK-- such as

"Yet with all these advantages (disadvantages), the case for (against) ________ [whatever the topic is] seems stronger."

Then launch into the position you want to sustain and end with that.

The other way to do it is to break the topic into component parts and argue for and against in each paragraph. Sometimes this can work better--it depends on the topic and the extend to which you're simply comparing rather than advocating.

It's hard to answer in the absence of knowing what you're writing about: capital punishment, the legalizing of marijuana, McCain vs. Obama (vs. Barr), installing a parking lot at X & Y Streets, ethanol, solar power, Catholicism, Jon Stewart as news anchor, etc.
