How do you write a resignation letter?

Not from a job, but from a leadership position in a youth organization. I don't want to get into the details of why I'm stepping down from the position.

  1. Short and to the point is best.  Something to the affect of:

    Because I am moving forward with other endeavors, I am submitting my resignation as youth leader, effective August 99, 9999.

    Thank you for allowing me to serve you in this capacity, and please know I am available to assist in wrapping up current business.
