  1. u use the expression to find the equation of the line.

    y-y1= m(x-x1)

    y & x are variable

    m is gradient

    x1 & y1 are the numbers on the line given to u.  in this case either use (1,6) or (-3,10)

    to find m = y2-y1/x2-x1

    so  m = 6 -10/1-(-3) = -4/4 = -1

    therefore  y-y1= m(x-x1)

    y - 6 = -1 (x - 1)

    y = -x + 7


  2. y = -x + 7

    The equation is

    y - 6 = m(x - 1)  where the slope m = (10 - 6)/( -3 -1) = -1

    So   y = -x + 1 + 6 = -x + 7
