  1. I love the name George - it's my late dad's name:D

In katakana, we have 2 ways to spell - ジョウジ and ジョージ.

In hiragana, also 2 ways - じょうじ and じょーじ.

But I think  ÃƒÂ£Ã‚Â˜Ã£Â‚‡ã†ã˜ is generally more accepted than じょーじ as a name of people when it goes into hiragana.

I do think we  have no proper kanji for yakuza.

In fact, 広辞苑=kojien ,Japanese dictionary, has やくざ in hiragana only.

  2. 情事 (George)

    893  (Ya-Ku-Za)

    満足 (Man-Zo-Ku)

    マジで恋する5秒前 (Madi-de-Koi-Suru-Go-Byou-Ma...

  3. George is one of familier names to japanese. we have similar name;じょうじ in hiragana, 譲二/譲治/譲司 etc in kanji (chinese letters). we usually dont put our name in katakana (it would be ジョウジ, but many ppl prefer to use ジョージ, cuz it looks better/cooler) except special occation (signiture etc).

we ususally write ur name ジョージ in katakana but not hiragana, cuz this name is foreign language.  if you wanna put it in hiragana, it would be じょーじ, and we dont have correct kanji for it.

    edit

    oh i forgot about yakuza!

yakuza is usually written in hiragana like やくざ. its the best way. if u wanna put it in katakana, it would be ヤクザ.  also u can put it in kanji like 八九三, means 893 (just numbers). am telling u, NOBODY uses this as yakuza these days, so u can but better not use this. it comes from japanese gambling. it was said if u had numbers 8(eight pronounced ya), 9(nine pronounced ku), 3(three pronounced san, it changed to za) when u played a card game, u would always lose.

  4. Usually foreign names are written in katakana, not hiragana, but since you asked...

Katakana -- ジョージ such as ジョージ・W・ブッシュ( George W. Bush)

    Hiragana - じょーじ

There is no kanji for "yakuza".

The name "yakuza" comes from Hanafuda ( playing cards of Japanese origin (karuta cards), used to play a number of games. The name literally translates as 'flower cards').

Used to be used for gambling...

The cards of number 8 (Japanese pampas grass), 9 (chrysanthemum), and 3 (cherry blossom) are so flashy, however, those are weak cards.

So people were calling those cards, which are flashy but useless, "893-mono (yakuza mono)"

(8 can be pronunced "ya", 9 can be pronunced "ku" and 3 was called "za" instead of "sa")

Anyway, people started calling those, who ran those gambling places and were flashy w/tatoos but strayed from the right path, "893 (yakuza)"

  5. There is no kanji for yakuza. It's written just in katakana like ヤクザ.
