I'm wondering how to make "Motts" possessive. Is it Motts'? Motts's doesn't seem right to me.

  1. take jesus for example:

jesus' would be the same as if you were to say tom's, d**k's, or harry's

  2. Yes, you add the apostrophe after the s, so Motts' is correct.

  3. According to William Strunk's 'Elements of Style', he recommends you add an 's.

The only exceptions to this rule is when using ancient proper names ending in -es or -is.
