How do you zip itunes on to a disk to transfer to another computer?

i just got a new laptop for school and am selling my old comp. but i dont want to loose all my songs i bought, i heard that you can zip the folder (itunes) put it on a disk and unzip it on my laptop. one problem im completly mentaly challaged when it comes to computers.

1. connect your external memory source (external hard drive, flash drive)

2. go to the iTunes music folder on your computer

3. just drag the whole folder into the memory source

4. when it finishes copying, eject the memory source

5. connect it to the new computer

6. drag the folder to a new location on the new computer

depending on the size of your iTunes library, this may take more than one transfer if you use a small memory source.  but if you use an external hard drive you should be fine
