How do your traits wear out???

I told someone I'm French,Portuguese,Spanish,blah blah, and they were like "I doubt ur all that.Even if ur ancestors were all that ur traits would've worn out."What does that mean, and how can the traits wear out?

  1. I think they meant you are American because the last few generations came from here.  


  2. Well through time "traits" of a person become less evident simply because people evolve and mesh with others. Through the generations genes become less prominent changing all the time because of the mixing of gene pools. So in a sense traits do wear out so to speak, but we all do retain our own seemingly disappearing blueprints from our ancestors. Genetics from parents are passed down to their kids so on and so forth, so eventually traits are kind of bred out of us eventually or become so dormant we think they are entirely gone. For example an all Caucasian family may have a daughter that bears a child that could take on the resemblance of a dark skinned infant with traits resembling African Americans. Why.... because someone a generation or a few back may have had a interracial relationship that produced children.  

  3. They don't really wear out.  Our genes are passed on from each generation to the next, to the point that certain traits are not seen as  obviously as others.  Still, ur ancestors are what made you who you are so don't let anyone take that away from you.
