How do your write an appeal letter for Financial aid?

  1. Let me make sure I know what you're asking. Are you saying your college offered you a financial aid package that isn't enough, and you want to appeal for more aid?

    In that case, you need to ask your school's financial aid department to reconsider your case. You'll need to prove to them that you have extraordinary unmet need, changed circumstances, an unusual situation, and/or other hardships that they might not have known about from just your FAFSA.  

    When you write your letter, be polite and professional (not rude and demanding!). You'll need to explain your situation, and probably include copies of any documentation (things like divorce papers, pink slips, emancipation, etc.) that support your appeal.

    That's just to give you the general idea. Contact your school's financial aid department right away and find out exactly what their appeals process involves. You may only have a short period of time to make your appeal, so don't waste any time!
