  1. ok, so you have a square which has a perimeter of 12cm

    so each side is 3cm

    (3 X 4 = 12)

    so, so when you unfold it you will then get a rectangle two sides will be 12cm and two sides will be 3cm

    so, the area is 12cm x 3cm = 36cm

    so area = 36cm^2 (squared)

  2. 36

    If it were unfolded the square would have a perimeter of 24 cm, so if it is a square, all sides are even.

    24/4=6, so 6*6=36

  3. A square has equal sides, say the length is A.  When you fold one in half vertically, it now has one side half as long as the other, or 0.5A.

    So we have 2 sides of length A, and 2 sides of length .5A  And the perimeter of this figure is 12 cm.  Perimeter is the length of all sides.

    A+A+.5A+.5A = 12

    3A = 12

    A = 4

    So the length of A is 4.  You can see that before that that was the length of one side of the original square.

    Area is base times height.  The base and height of the square is the same, it is 4.  So 4*4 = 16.  So the area of the original square is 16.
