How does AP credit translate into college grades?

Say you take an AP class, pass the test, get college credit for the college level class you took the AP class for.....

What kind of grade do you get for the college class?

I know colleges just take the exam grade to determine how many hours of credit you get for that class, but do they give you a grade that would count towards your college GPA?

  1. No the grade you get in your AP class does not count towards your college GPA.

Colleges either 1) give you college credits for your AP test or 2) don't give you credits but let you use it to place out of a required class or 3) give you nothing for it - no credits or placing out.  They don't give you a college grade for it.
