How does AT&T DSL work?

I order the pro speed and need a little help figuring out how dsl works...Does it use a phone line? will i end up with a high phone bill like on dial up? Please tell me how dsl works or how AT&T dsl works

It sends and receives an internet (not a telephone) signal using the telephone wire.  Internet usage has nothing to do with your phone bill - in fact you can get internet service without having phone service.
