How does Alice in Wonderland relate to the presidential campaign?

I don't quite remember the story but the selection of Sarah Palin for the Vice Presidency evokes memories of Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter for me. Am I off base?

Yes, it is all very surreal to me too.  I think the Mad Hatter is the presidential candidate that chose her for VP.
