EWR - HKG 8,000+ miles; Triple 7ER Range 7,700 mi.

Do they keep the MTOW down so they can increase range?

  1. On Boeing's website they talk about 777's that have range of up to 11000+ miles. It says the 777ER (extented range)/ http://www.boeing.com/commercial/777fami...

There is the website, check it out.

  2. The EWR-HKG is a polar route, goes over the north pole. The 777 is a wonderful plane. It's got the range. Last I heard this is the longest commerical route. This flight has diverted twice that I know of into Sitka,Alaska. Continental has approval from 23 countries to divert if necessary.

The people in Alaska took the passengers from the diverted flight to their school gym and treated them to a meal. There were more people on the plane than the population of the town.
