I hate to burst the illusion of Criss Angel's abilities, but he's an illusionist of the camera angle, not slight of hand. His tricks are not intended to impress his live audience, but rather his television audience. While some magicians such as Penn and Teller or David Blaine do illusions which leave a live audience guessing, Criss Angel's "live audience" are actually a part of his stunt and the magic is intended to leave his television audience guessing. Personally, I find this form of the art much less impressive, but he seems to be very successful with what he does.

I also wanted to know why and actually found it in another Yahoo question. The best answer is c**p, but Techno, near the bottom, gives a VERY good description. I answer for his behalf...

"My opinion is there was a sheet of Plexiglas or a clear material with the same index of refraction as water making the sheet nearly invisible in water. The sheet was about one inch thick standing on edge, resting on the bottom and the other edge one inch below the surface of the water. In some places there are two sheets side by side because he does not always step in line. There was a hole in middle near the bottom where the girl swims through and blows bubbles. There was also a gap or notch at the surface where the girl with sun glasses steps through just ahead of Criss near the end of his walk. Watch her closely as she slips through and then Criss takes a wider step over the notch. If you freeze the frame of the underwater scene when the shoe drops you can see the shadow of the edge of the sheet on the side and bottom of the pool."

This makes a lot more sense than boat, floating, or elctromagnetuc shoes. Chriss walked like he was walking on a flat surface. Anything floating isnt that stable, even on a windless day. The shoes would be too small to keep steady.

i dont know how exactly, but one thing i noticed is that he never shows how he gets out of his tricks. like how he got off of the fence posts or how the guys head got fixed that he cut open to pull the card out of.  its all done with cameras and special effects.

Hi there umm okay if you study hard on Criss Angel trick you can tell it's cleverly disguised but umm well the reason why Criss Angel walked on water is because he is wearing a shoes that float i must say yes it clever and you must definitely be thinking that he's shoe did fall off but this guy is a pro well umm he is wearing 2 disguise on his feet.

first was the shoe and the second was his feet revealing Angel's real shoes, which have been cleverly disguised as

feet. Angel used these same "feet" shoes (with a different gimmick installed) to walk up the outside of a building.

How does Criss levitate on land? I think it’s a possibility that Criss Angel is utilizing electromagnetic  shoes, and perhaps another but stronger electromagnetic  is lifting or pushing him into a levitating state by electromagnetic force.

As for how Criss Angel walks on water it's a possibility that he is utilizing a clear strong hollow Plexiglas cube to walk on. The cube completely blends in because of the waves in the pool from all of the speculators. The cube has openings for the women to swim underneath Criss.

But not sure as to how he walks on water to  the center of a river, as a women waves her hand under his feet as he walks with lots of speculators, underwater cameras, and then slowly lowers himself into the water until he is completely under water in a standing position. Unless it has something to do with the helicopter hovering overhead in the sky!...

But the bottom line is he is a rich professional magician and can afford any special tool or gadget if needed.

I don't think I saw that but I did see the one where he's lying on top of pieces of glass and gets rolled over by a steam roller.
