How does Ebay work? Can some teach me the process of how to list items and the bidding?

Hello. I had Ebay a while back, and I just do not understand how to make money on there. I listed my items, and I never got anyone to bid on my items. I do not understand how to do the auction and bidding. Can someome teach me the process of using Ebay? The simplest way if possible.
