Question:

How does Geothermal energy production work?

I was wondering exactly how the heat of the Earth is transfered to the water...

I'm in Technology class and the teacher wants us to find out, so i'm being origional and not using Google. =)

  1. There are two type of Geothermal Energy production, one is by injecting water and the injected water is turned into steam by the heat coming from the earth which is directed through pipes to the turbines which turns the dynamo to produce electricity.  In this case, magma vein under the earth is identified and they drill a hole near the vein and inject water, through the extreme heat of the magma, the injected water is turned into steam.

    The other one is, there is already a steam coming out, so all they have to do is direct these steams coming from the earth through pipes to the turbines which turns the dynamo to produce electricity.  In these case, an underwater river  or stream passes through the area where a magma vein is passing, due to the heat of the magma, the water is turned into steam.
