  1. That depends on the exact type of PDA you're referring to.

Internet Explorer Mobile (IE Mobile) that comes bundled on every Windows Mobile (WM) handhelds will do just fine, if you only use it for occasional/regular browsing. It won't, however, cut it if you need to view those sites bloated with Flash animations. The advantage of browsing with IE Mobile being you can switch on that 'single-column' layout to make viewing large web pages easier on the small screen.

Another type of PDA commonly used these days is the Nokia smartphones based on Symbian. Most Nokia S60v3 FP1 or higher smartphones come with a Safari-based web browser that offers higher fidelity in displaying web pages compared to IE Mobile. In other words, it makse web experience on handhelds come pretty close to that of on regular computers. It also supports some--but not all--type of flash animations. The downside with this Safari-based web browser on S60v3 FP1 being no 'single-column' layout option, forcing the user to scroll horizontally--in addition to vertically. This is because most S60v3 FP1 devices have QVGA (240x320 px) displays, while most web pages are designed to be viewed at 1024x768 px.

Regardless of which route you decide to take, simply forget about sitting back and enjoying some YouTube videos since no handhled browser is capable of handling those videos at the moment. You can, however, use a separate application to stream YouTube videos on S60v3 FP1 phones.

If you need all-out freedom in web browsing, I'd suggest getting a notebook computer instead.
