Question:

How does Jeff Gordon & Jimmie Johnson feel about not being #1 anymore at HMS?

Ever since Dale Jr. moved in, they have been pushed to the bottom of the barrel. He comes in as the most popular driver and takes over the #1 spot from two guys that are champions.

  1. How is Jr #1 at HMS?????

Did they release a press statement???

Did Rick Hendrick p**p in your Cheerios?????

HMS is a 4 team, 4 driver stable.

There is no proverbial number 1.

  2. That's kind of a stupid thing to say!!  This has nothing to do with Dale Jr. he maybe the most popular driver but as far as taking over the #1 spot from the two champions. is really a STUPID thing to say, it's all a matter of opinion!!!  These two champions have had some pretty bad luck!!!!  Jimmie will always be #1 in my eyes!!!  Go 48 GO!

  3. Wow how incredible for Jr. to do that in one fail swoop.  How riduculous is that?  No one is going to take anything away from Jimmie or precious Jeffy.  They are a team there is no I in team.

  4. They haven't been pushed anywhere.  Jimmie is in the top 10 and Gordon is knocking on that door.  They will make the Chase.  Gordon has just had a run of back luck he and his team will get a handle on this COT and get back to greatness.   HMS is still very much a team to be reckoned with.

  5. I don't think Jeff or Jimmie is feeling bad about Jr's being ahead of them in points but Jeff & Jimmie are still the top dogs at HMS even if Jr is off to a better start this season. Jr is the most popular driver & he hasn't taken over #1 spot at HMS just because he is higher in points & until Jr wins a race & Johnson has won this year & until Jr wins a championship, he is far from top dog at HMS

  6. That's not true. Someone is misleading you in your information. Between Jimmie, Jeff, & Junior, HMS is a behemoth in NASCAR. Jimmie and Jeff are just letting the new guy wear out their former team mate.

  7. First of all, the only place that Jr. is considered Hendricks #1 driver is in Dale Jr's fans eyes. The guy has won EXACTLY ZERO points races for Rick Hendrick and I don't think that being higher in the points for a small portion of ONE season hardly constitutes Dale Jr. being called Hendricks #1 driver. This question is laughable really!! You are putting Dale Jr. above a guy who has won the last two championships in a row and a guy who is BY FAR the most winning-est driver on the track right now. Not to mention, unarguably, one of the top three drivers of all time!! Dale Jr. hasn't won a points race for two years and isn't even one of the top five drivers on the track right now!! Utterly ridiculous!!

  8. I dont think it really bothers them that much. They've both been around this sport for a while, and things like this probably dont bother them too much. They won't lose sleep over it. Jimmie and Jeff are both great racers, and they are just out there doing the best they can. NASCAR's most popular driver (Jr.) joining their team doesn't really affect them that much.

  9. Good Grief!  Please let Baby Jr. get on the track all by himself so he can win a race & let the Baby Jr. crybabies shutup!

  10. I think they have been around enough to not worry about the kind of things that we do.  There is still a long way to go this season and I suspect that all 3 will make the chase.  The only standings that really matter are the ones that come after the race at Homestead.  It's not like they aren't getting good equipment and haven't had their chances to win a couple more than they have.  We will see how they react to the pressure but I suspect they will be fine in the end.  Just because Jr is currently ahead of them in the standings doesn't mean that he has surpassed a 4 time champion and the back to back champion in the pecking order.

  11. The drivers (4) and their pit crews and the engine department all make up HMS as a whole.  When you put them all together you get the team. One person does not make a team. By having different types and personalities together you get alot of input from all. One will have ideas that another will not. Then you sort through them and use what is good and useful for you. That is what makes HMS such a great organization. The different driving styles and preferences of each one. Combined they are a hard act to beat. Every driver out there has had good years and bad. Whether it is a good one or a bad has really nothing to do with who happens to be their team mates at the time. It all depends on what happens to each one separately on the track. One might be involved in a wreck another may not. One can have a flat and another not. Most of the drivers pick how they want their cars set up for the race.  Sometimes it's right on the money and other times they fight the car all day long. Point is Hendricks is a smart man why would he want to really favor one over the other. He has 2 past champions. You never know when one will be involved in trouble on the track so you want all of your cars to each have an equal chance of being number one. I'm sure if you ask Mr. Hendricks he would tell you he would love to finish the season 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in points.

  12. jimmie and jeff got dumped on.if i were them i would be looking to move to a new team that dosen't have a lame driver like jr on it

  13. I seriously doubt that they feel that way.  They are seasoned veterans of the sport and repeated past champions.  They know exactly where they stand in the totem pole.

  14. They are not going to say anything public or to the media but you know its gotta be bothering them. They have to be thinking about it. Im sure the media has brought it up to them a time or two. Im bettin that Gordon retires in a few more years to get away.

  15. They're are race car drivers, so I'm not sure they are to bothered.  I like Jeff and Jimmie, but I'm not a big Jr. fan. So I actually like it. If Jr. wasn't on the team, Jeff would be getting to much tv time for running not so well this year. And as for not being number one, I highly doubt the organization is looking at it like that, just the media and fans.

  16. What suddenly makes Jr the #1 at Hendrick? The "most popular driver" thing is a joke. We are hearing more about Jr this year because he just moved to Hendrick and is running better than the other 3 HMS drivers. Gordon and Letarte are suddenly struggling with this new car quite frequently while Johnson and Knaus have also shown some weakness this year. Jr has been the most consistent driver at HMS this season, that's all. Gordon and Johnson are still above him in the "pecking order" and that's what counts.
