No politician can.

The only temptation of the presidency is power. The salary isn't all that much, especially compared to the time and responsibilities involved. That only leaves power as the reward. Power breeds corruption. The system simply doesn't allow for a candidate focused solely on the good of the people and the nation.  Those people tend not to have the money or the power to get elected.  The only hope would be for a successful businessman who hasn't lost all connection with the average citizen.  

Although any businessman in the country would better understand the average citizen than a politician. I'd swear politics is about making things more complicated in order to keep job security and make people think that Congress is actually doing work.

My point does relate to the question.  While McCain isn't as in touch with American workers as I would prefer, he's at least within sight which is more than I can say for most politicians. He's definitely a step better than Obama, so this question doesn't mean much for this election.

Politicians are typically upper class people, they don't understand the concerns of ordinary Americans as well as we do.  That being said, we do not understand the concerns of government as well as politicians do.  I find nothing wrong with this either.

Ha Ha, he doesn't.  He won't even hire them to work on his many houses.  He hires mexicans for that.!  Mexicans work for less, and don't require health insurance.

He is currently collecting social security even though he has a 11 or so houses and still getting paid from the senate. That is the only thing I can think of how he could even remotely relate to us!!!!!

McCain was born into money, and married into even more money...where's the success in that ?
