  2. i think that since mccarthyism is a term describing the intense anti-communist suspicion and where people were accused of being Communists or communist sympathizers and became the subject of aggressive investigations and in fahrenheit 451 people were very suspicious and quick to accuse others of owning books.  In both of these people became terrified that they would be accused and accused other people. i hope that made sense!
