They are charging if you ask for more then one dipping sauce. How can they get away with this? Have you ever paid for a condiment when you go out to eat? What are they going to do next, start charging for napkins, straws, and ketchup?

  1. a lot of places around here do it and they seem to get away with it just fine.  I guess they assume that is all you need and they are losing money if they give you more than one.  Our tacobell charger .75 for a little thing of sour cream.

  2. they dont charge for condiments. because after they give me back my change they ask if i want any sauce. i say yes i want sweet and sour. they dont charge me because they already gave me back my money.

  3. Nothing in life is free. And, if, it is free , you get what you pay for. Nothing of real value.

  4. depends on what u have ordered

  5. That is not supposed to happen. If you order an item that comes with a dipping sauce, you should be able to get more than 1 within reason. If you asked for a dipping sauce with your fries, I could accept them charging.

  6. I've never been charged for condiments at a fast food restaurant. If I did, I don't think I would go back there.

  7. they dont charge where i am in nj thats crazy

  8. It is crazy..I have noticed if it's a younger person normally they won't charge..I don't eat mayo or tarter sauce so I feel that I should be able to get one free sauce for my sandwich..it use to be 10 cent if you didn't have nuggets now it's 39 cent! I mean come on now...I could understand if you wanted a WHOLE handful of sauce..but one isn't gonna hurt nobody. I pay because I need it to make my meal complete..nothing I can do about it..but still pisses me off!

  9. I've never been charged for condiments.  I usually ask for three ketchups and end up getting a hand full.  If they want to charge for condiments, I'll return the food and eat somewhere else.

  10. i didnt no mcdonalds selled condoms

  11. all condiments (as well as napkins, straws, etc.) cost money. When condiments appeared to be free, you were paying for them in the cost of the food. However, people would ask for two, three, four or more packets for one order of nuggets, etc. Then people began using the dipping sauces with fries, etc. Also, I have seen people just waste them by leaving sauce all over the floor, tables, throwing the packets, etc.

McD's very likely found the costs were becoming prohibitive, and implemented new policies to attempt to control waste.

"There's no such thing as a free lunch" or a free condiment, in these days. A few years ago, I found that when I went out to dine, I no longer was offered a "free" glass of water, because owners were conserving.

  12. Charging for sauces varies in different regions, and between corporate and franchises.  I agree that charging for more than one sauce is not right. Charging for more than say, three, would be more reasonable.

The McDonalds I work at has a sauce policy like this:

For up to six nuggets: 1 sauce

    10 nuggets: 2 sauces

    20 nuggets: 4 sauces

McChicken sauce: the general rule us 6 free packets per order, but if someone order like 6 large fries or something, then we can make an exception.

The reason they charge, obviously, is because if it was totally free too many people would take advantage of it. Seriously, I had these girls one time ask for about 20 McChicken sauce and they only had two large fries.

But I agree that they are a bit stingy sometimes. They get away with it though, becase people want the sauce so bad, they are willing to pay $.10 or $.20 for it.

  13. The owner of the restaurant has to pay for the condiments, and the owner has to make money so naturally they charge for condiments. However if u buy a product like nuggets or Mcdippers depending on the size of your order u get a certain amount of sauce free. 6 pac nuggets = 1 sauce, 10 pac = 2 and 20 pac = 3. Mcdippers = 1pac
