How does NOS work?

Question

As in nitrous oxide. I have seen it used in video games and movies. I was wondering how it works and how it makes the vehicle go faster?

the oxide contains oxygen....when y spray o2  into it you can also put more gas....more gas and air equals more power

nitrous oxide is highly combustable and when ignited in engine it causes a larger explosion then just plain air increasin power

An oxidizer makes anything combustible(like gasoline) burn much faster.Faster burn means more energy output.
