  1. They coordinate the training flights of the local air bases with the start time of the race to honor our military men and women.

  2. I don't know why or how, I just know that I get goosebumps every time I look up and see those jets flying over California Speedway, with everyone standing with caps off and hands over heart singing the national anthem.

    Gets me every time.

  3. they have to fly traning missions anyway, so they just fly over the track and use it as practice for the pilots. It's a simulation for the pilots for what they would do in war. NASCAR just hooked it up that way and make the fans beleive it's a patriotic event. So the fans believe it's out of patriotism and the pilots use it for a training mission. Kind of like target practice. The pilots actually lock in coordinates and calculate a specific chart mapped out by the "mission"

  4. The Air Force does the flyovers as part of their training exercises.  In return, they get free recruiting space at the racetrack.

  5. Every now and then, it's a Bomber instead of the jets. I like that one better.

  6. It benefits both sides. Most of the flyover pilots are rookies in training and no better training in formation than a Nascar flyover.

  7. They pay them.

  8. drivers like dale jr are sponsered by things like that. It also shows respect for the national athem. they just ask them and probably pay them  a little. i hoped this helped
