How does Obama plan on raising his kids if he is elected?

His wife also works yet they can take care of their kids. Why are these questions only asked to women? Is the media sexist?

She has a baby with down sydrome. Also, a 17 year old daughter who will have a baby in about 4 months. Two babies, plus her two children.

But I do wonder who watches the children while they are working.... they probably have some sort of nanny.

I see your point.  It is another reason why I wonder they diminish Sarah Palins qualifications, because she is an honest, hardworking mom?  Sounds a bit sexist to me, especially some of the answers on here.

My mom raised five kids alone. After my dad died, she did fine.  Sarah has a husband and her kids won't be too far away.  It is unbelieveable that some people's thinking is so archaic.

Her family is truly irrelevant to her postion as VP.

Well, I agree that people should not be asking how Palin plans to raise her kids.

But you are not helping by continuing the discussion...

So... are you saying there is no difference between the workload and distractions of managing 5 kids (including small ones) while being VP of the US, versus having 2 kids who are grade school age and being an executive in the private sector?

Their situations and responsibilities to the amercian people would be completely different.

More importantly - why say it's wrong to talk about Palin's parental obligations by comparing Michelle's?

Possibly...but Obama has 2 kids.  Doesn't Palin have 5, including one with down syndrome (which is a terrible thing...and is a stressful situation for a family to deal with).  I'm just trying to put logic into it...maybe they are all sexist d-bags.  But I think it should be nodded that Palin has 3 more kids then the Obama family.

Having 2 school age children is easier to handle than having 4 school age children and a special needs infant.  Having 5 kids is a challenge for anyone - there is no way to deny that.  I think Palin's husband can handle the kids as well as Obama's wife can handle their two children, but any way you look at it, 5 kids is a handful.  Many American women have children and jobs and do just fine.  And like other couples, when one person has a  high powered job the other parent stays home and takes care of the kids.  Palin's husband will do just fine being a SAHD.

because through out human history human women have traditionally cared for the children and such. still today many women choose and (perhaps naively) look forward to life as a house wife, in the lower classes no one "wants" to work. Poor women know that job at the gas station, waitress, deli, cashier sucks, so they are plenty happy to et him go do construction for 12 hours while she hang out at home. People talking about "I want an equal career" they ain't from my hood. They live in a different world.
