How does Pizza Hut stay open in NYC?

Yes, New York has plenty of good pizza places, but to compare fast food joints on a bigger scale, many places get by on brand-name recognition.

McDonald's has some awful burgers, but they get by on promotional tie-ins, kids, and exposure.

There are many great burger places out there, many are non-franchise places, but they don't the money, influence and exposure that a McDonald's has.

Thats a good question.  I used to eat from pizza hut back in the day from time to time bc they had the personal pan pizzas, but their pizza has gotten worse over the years.

I agree that when in NYC you should not eat Pizza Hut since we have some great places that offer good NYC style pizza. However, I must admit that I like the breadsticks here.

Also I work in Jamaica Queens and there is a very crappy pizzeria and across the street is a Pizza Hut. I would eat from the Pizza Hut then the crappy pizzeria that charges $3 a slice..so you do have to see both sides.
