How does Public Education lead to the social reproduction of existing class divisions in our society?

how does public school funding mirror and reproduce the inequality of our society? what steps can be taken to ensure every kid a efficient education?

Public school funding mirrrors the inequality of our society because they reward the good schools with higher funding and punish the poor schools with less.  So a school with outdated books and 10-year-old  PCs is forced to neglect instruction of the knowledge gained in recent years.  This helps keeps the lower classes further behind.  The system should be somewhat reversed.  If a school requires funding to help educate kids then it needs to be provided.  There is a reason they aren't getting good grades on the big tests.

I know I learned little but mathematics and a little science in high school, simply because they were too wrapped up telling us exactly what we were supposed to know for the test that we never really learned or finished anything at all.  In my senior year, we started reading at least 3 books but never finished a single one.  We would test about half-way through and then move on to another.  They give you a summary instead of an education.

We were never allowed to take books home because there were far from enough 6-year-old books to go around and we often had to split into groups to share.

As for ways to improve schools, I heard about one state that started to provide a lot of college certified courses in high school so that they could earn their associates before they graduated.  This way they have a head start on postsecondary education.  This and improved funding could go miles towards a better future for our youth.
