My mom want's to get new couches but she can't afford to pay full price for them at regular stores. How much would it cost normally to get a couch from Rent-A-Center? and is it only rent? Do you own the stuff after it is full paid for? I'm so confused.

  1. Renting is THE most expensive way to buy furniture

Sure she wants new, but renting usually costs double the price, and using the credit card is not a good idea.

She should save up the money for a few months if she wants to buy new, and pay cash.  She will end up saving so much money.

If she has t have it NOW,  She is way better off looking for used furniture in excellent condition on Craig's list or some other site.  Lots of people who relocate end up selling their furniture because it is so expensive to move things.  She can get really nice things and at very good prices if she would consider looking at "gently used" furniture.

  2. OMG don't.... They literally charge double. Sure the weekly payments aren't bad, but in the end you will have absolutely paid out double.

Just look at the prices there, they advertise them right in the open. They'll have the purchase price (to buy directly) and the rental price, double...

Better off saving and going to a furniture store or buying used.

  3. Rent A Center charges way too much and the furniture may be used, but you will own the couch, tell you mom to check out a Buy Here Pay here Furniture store, that way you'll  get new furniture that is affordable.

  4. If your mom is smart she will save up and buy from eather Salvation Army or any reputable furniture store in your town or city, I was living with a man some years ago and he wanted a side by side refrigerator and we couldn't afford it, so he went to rent a center and go0t one, we made payments every two weeks and whe0n we finally paid it off it cost us 2,200.00 dollars that w0as 1,000 dollars more than the same refrigerator at Sears cost m, I was very perplexed for having paying so much. you rent to own, half ggoes to rent and half goes to buying the product.  Good Luck April

  5. when u rent something then u will only have it for a certain amount of time, if u pay fully for it then it is all urs.

  6. Yes it is rent-to-own. You pay towards the balance. If you pay it off in a certain amount of time, you don't pay the large interest. But if you don't, you will pay more than double for the item. You are better off just going to Art Van or somewhere and getting quality furniture with lay-a-way.

  7. you rent to own and they charge you like 200% intrest a year

  8. Rent A Center is good if you're renting something for a short period of time. If she plans on getting them and keeping them, than I would suggest she put aside the money per week that she would be spending on renting it, and then get some from a retail store. She'll save a ton just on the interest. They would probably charge her about $60+ a week just for a couch or set.
