How does Sarah Palin help to strengthen the ticket...?

in ways that aren't superficial? It's not like she brings knowledge or experience. You could hardly call her 20 months of governor in one of the least populated states 'executive experience'.

Was she chosen only to win votes? Does McCain not care about choosing a strong vp to strengthen the country?

  1. She's a woman's woman.  Very down-to-earth and has executive experience (mayor, business owner and gov).

  2. you can look at it any way you choose. it's weak experienced vp candidate versus weak experienced presidential candidate.  the one thing she brings is a clean view.  not biased by years of insider d.c. politics and inside deals.  she speaks her mind, acts according to her convictions, and could be viewed as a "hockey mom" representing family interests.  regardless of the selection, there would be issues.  let's allow her to stand on her feet and see how she deals with the lion's den.  that will tell us the true answer to your question.

  3. Walter Reed Conditions R Shameful, if you look at her record, what she has done in 2 years as governor of Alaska is incredible.

  4. OF COURSE she was chosen for votes! Why do you think so many people wanted Obama to pick Clinton as v-p (even though they hate each other)? It was McCain's way to sticking it to the Dems!

  5. She does bring some knowledge and experience-more than Obama- she entered politics in 92 and Obama in 96. She runs the government he works for the government. She took on long time corrupt politicans of both parties and won, she has eliminated much of the pork spending in her state and proven herself to be a person of reform and fiscal responsibility. Opting for what is right instead of whats easy.

  6. She has more experience running a govt than all three of the others.  Duh!

Running a state govt is exactly like running a federal one.  I bet you flunked civics and government in high school, eh.  Oh, You're still in grade school.  Sorry.

  7. How can you not call that 'executive experience'?  You don't live here and you also do not know what is involved with that job.  There are many challenges that we all face up here that you wouldn't even think about in the lower 48.  So her 'executive experience' does count whether you like it or not.

  8. Her position on the core Republican issues.

    Abortion

    Homosexuals

    Off-shore Oil Drilling

    War in Iraq

    Lower Taxes for the Rich

You don't need experience to take the Republican position on the core issues.

Yes.  She was chosen to win votes.  In an election you must win votes to gain office.  That is the whole purpose of running -- to win. It is not to lose and then to call it a "moral" victory.  Moral victories are defeats.

  9. Does she really make much difference?

In the end, I am not so sure it makes too much difference, but I do think she brings in the Christian vote and helps bring in 20% or so of the women's vote.

The novelty of Palin is more electable than the novelty of Obama/Biden.

  10. I'm an Obama supporter but looking at it objectively, politically she doesn't seem like a very smart choice.  If nothing else the fact that she is under investigation for potential abuse of power should have been a red flag for the McCain campaign.  I know and believe that people are supposed to be innocent until proved guilty but this is politics.  There is a different set of rules.  M. Jodi Rell of Connecticut would have been a better choice.  She is the governor of Connecticut and has more of a history with McCain than Palin does.  She's a republican governor in a strongly blue state who won by a two to one margin when she ran for reelection.  CT won't be in play this year but she could help reach out to independents.

  11. She will only serve as a pawn, the real ticket isn't written yet!

There will be a covenant of a seven years peace treaty, Palin

won't be in the picture for very long.  Obama and McCain (from the shadows) will yell peace, peace, but there won't be peace because the tribulation has begun!  Prepare now, don't be deceived!

  12. mccain is so clueless that i can't even put into words

  13. I think McCain may have been intoxicated when he made his decision - doesn't it seem like Sarah Palin was an impulsive decision made by McCain?

  14. It is 10 times the experience Obama (I'm running for President) brings to the table.^

  15. 1. She strengthens the conservative vote for McCain.  Before, many thought he wasn't conservative enough.  Will her stance on the issues, this will bring more of those into the McCain-fold.

    2. This will gain *some* Hillary supporters.  Not all of them.  Probably not even most.  But maybe enough for McCain to win the election.

    3. The "shock value": Not just because she's a woman, but because she's so unexpected, the media is putting most of its focus on her and *not* on the DNC and Obama's speech.  And that hurts Obama's chances of making too big (if any) of a gain in the polls. (The "Out of Sight, Out of Mind" priniciple).

Yeah, this is a crazy move for McCain.  But it could prove to be "crazy like a fox."

  16. I think the only reason he chose her was cause she's a woman. McCain isn't looking to make a difference, all he wants is votes.

  17. Sorry to inform you, but Palin is governor, and that is executive experience!  Obama is the neophyte with no experience except with a crack pipe!

  18. Hillary Supporters that is her MAIN purpose

    Get those Hillary supporters!!!

  19. You just don't want a woman in the White House do you?

Boy, you libs are already throwing falsehoods out there. Little by little, you people chip away the truth. Even though it's not much, the town she was mayor of had 9000, not 5000.

Alaska has 3 electoral votes. These are based on population concentrations.

Going by your logic, then governors of Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, New Mexico, or Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Delaware or Connecticut, Kansas, Nebraska, or ARKANSAS aren't qualified to run as president or VP either. The states I just mentioned are either at 3 electorals or barely over that.

How about Vermont? Howard Deans state. You guys thought he was perfectly qualified. Vermont has only 3 electorals.

Besides, she has 20 months as governor and has accomplished more than Obama's 36 months in the Senate. For that matter, she has accomplished more in a few years than Obama has in his entire political career. 24 of those by the way he used up campaigning.

    Admit it Lib, You're skeeeeered.
