Question:

How does Savers compare to other thrift stores (in both clothing quality and how it helps the community)?

I don't want to shop at a store that will hinder the surrounding community.

There is a Salvation Army near-ish, but it's in the middle of the city (and a college campus on move-in week...) and I don't quite want to deal with that. Should I still try the Salvation Army if you don't think I'll have any good luck at Savers?

  1. Its a bit of a catch 22 , savers does donate money to charity (diabetes in Australia ) but essentially operate as a business . The catch 22 comes because savers buy most of their stock from charities like the salvation army . They buy it by the ton regardless of quality so the charities only need to give it to them in bundles therefore saving on sorting , admin etc meaning more money for the charity . In Australia it has become illegal to donate clothes etc to stores without a charity affiliation
