I am a full time college student and I think I will be eligible. I don't want to do it, if I have to pay taxes on it, or if it affects my credit in a negative way.

  1. It also has nothing to do with credit reports or taxes.

  2. Section 8 is for low income familys not single college students.

  3. It doesn't affect your credit or taxes.

Section 8 is grant money to help pay for housing. Grant money is free to the recipient and is not considered income.

Applying for Sect. 8 takes a couple of years before you'll get a voucher and by that time you may not qualify anymore.

Your best bet is to find public housing that can qualify you for reduced rent on-site.
