How does Shell make money when other gas stations are so much cheaper?

Everywhere I go, Shell is at least $.15-$.20 higher per gallon than any other station. How does it compete with these much cheaper places? Why would anyone fill up at Shell when they could just go down the road and get much cheaper gas at say, Arco?

  1. shell also sells gas to the lower priced gas stations also so they aren't hurting for money sometimes if you,ll notice you,ll see shell trucks hauling gas to other stations,we see this a lot around where we live at,they don't just supply gas to shell gas stations they also supply it to other stations as well, that's how they stay on top of the gas market, good luck.

  2. Some people foolishly have "brand loyalty", a disease of the brain that causes them to buy more expensive gasoline when cheaper gas is available.

  3. they own a lot of the other stations too. What??? you didn't know???
