What I mean is, let's say I buy CS: Source and Team Fortress 2 on my login for Steam on my desktop. Am I able to access these games for free on any other computer I log into with that name? As long as only 1 computer is playing it at any given time?

  1. Once you purchase a game on Steam, it is permanently tied to your Steam account. So you can download and install any games in your account onto any computer that has Steam installed. There is no additional charge for this, because you have already purchased the game(s).

But, as you say, you can only be logged in on one computer at a time.

  2. The short answer, is yes. The System files are on your PC, but your account unlocks them when you need them to play them (which cannot run multiple accounts at any one time).

Do remember however, to use those games they ned to be installed to work- as well as the steam client to use them.

Steam is a client that tries to eliminate copied games- by giving each game a cd code that is unique, and thus when say, you, buy the games, your account is registered to be the only account that can use it. This will stop a large majority of illegal copies functioning on other machines (which you can understand). But from your first question, I gathered you've done your research and your question is totally correct. Hope I've given you something to go on.. or helped somehow.

    Have a good day too!
